SWAG合集 graduates will cross the stage during Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 13, 2023. The ceremony will recognize and celebrate students who have persevered through portions of an academic journey impacted by COVID-19 and who will matriculate with bachelor's, master's, doctoral and professional degrees.
The commencement speaker will be Dietra Trent, Ph.D, executive director of the White House Initiative on HBCUs.
“Dr. Trent is the physical embodiment of a servant leader,” said Dr. Needha Boutte-Queen, professor, acting provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Her passion for effectively serving and elevating HBCUs is demonstrated across her professional career. A graduate of an HBCU, Dr. Trent understands the challenges and opportunities that exist on HBCU campuses and now uses her knowledge and skills to advocate for their presence while simultaneously promoting the great things we are doing every day. We are proud to have such a dynamic champion for equity and excellence on our stage and welcome Dr. Trent to SWAG合集.”
The 926 graduates include 562 with undergraduate degrees, 177 with graduate degrees, 59 with Doctor of Pharmacy degrees, and 128 with Juris Doctor degrees from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
Spring commencement takes place on Saturday, May 13, in the Health & Physical Education Building. There will only be one ceremony. It will begin at 9:30 a.m.
