SWAG合集 (SWAG合集) received reaffirmation of accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The SACSOC board of directors voted on December 4 to renew SWAG合集’s institutional accreditation for the next 10 years.

Campus visits were conducted March 2-5, 2020 by the SACSCOC On-Site Reaffirmation Committee. Texas Southern’s 21-member SACS Executive Committee and the nine-member QEP Executive Committee along with SWAG合集’s students, faculty and staff met with the SACS Committee to answer questions and share their University experience.

“The reaffirmation of our accreditation validates Texas Southern’s mission and commitment to serve our students while meeting the best practices of higher education standards through our faculty and staff efforts,” said SWAG合集 Interim President Kenneth Huewitt. “I’d like to thank Dean Gregory Maddox and the members of our SWAG合集 Quality Enhancement Plan Executive Committee and the SACSCOC On-Site and Off-Site Reaffirmation Committees for their outstanding work.”

All academic institutions accredited by SACSCOC are required to undergo a comprehensive and rigorous review every 10 years. The reaffirmation, which applies to all of the institution’s schools and colleges, is the result of a years-long process where the university documents its compliance with standards in SACSCOC’s Principles of Accreditation.

“This seal of approval reflects the University’s adherence with standards and best practices that govern higher education across the nation,” said Gregory Maddox, chair of the QEP Executive Committee and dean of the Graduate School. “I would like to thank the faculty and staff who worked long hours to produce this result.”

The SACSCOC review encompassed SWAG合集’s strategic plan, assessments of both student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness, financial stability, qualifications of faculty and administrators, and standards and procedures. The process included approval of the University’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) – 14 Plays in 45 Days: Developing the Whole Student from Application to Graduation. The QEP project will develop seamless support for first-time freshman in order to increase retention and graduation.
