Texas Southern senior guard Tyrik Armstrong was named to the 2019-20 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 22 First Team while sophomore Yahuza Rasas earned second team honors. This marks the second postseason honor for both players as Armstrong was named to the 2019-20 All-SWAC First Team while Rasas picked up second team honors.
The 10-member team was voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I. This past season, Armstrong averaged a team-high 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.8 steals. The Houston native scored in double figures in 24 of 28 games played with a high of 32 at Nevada. His presence was felt deeply in SWAC play as the Tigers were 11-3 with him in the lineup and outscored opponents by 5.4 points per game.
Rasas posted nine double-doubles while leading the team with 8.2 rebounds and was fourth with 9.8 points per game. The sophomore from St. Louis, Mo. had 12 games with 10-plus rebounds and was a two-time SWAC Player of the Week. He grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff and 20 points versus Jackson State.
